Duke University Libraries advise our users about the following service changes, which have been made in consultation with the university administration and Duke Police in order to better manage access to library facilities. These changes will go into effect January 23, 2012.
Revised Public Access Hours
Most Duke University Libraries are open to the general public during certain posted hours. Beginning January 23, members of the public are welcome to visit and use Duke University Libraries according to the following schedule:
- Monday-Friday: 8am - 7pm
- Saturday: 9am - 7pm
- Sunday: 10am - 7pm
Outside of these hours, all library entrances will be card-access only. This applies to Perkins Library, Bostock Library and the Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library on West Campus, and to Lilly and Music libraries on East Campus.
Please note that library hours for Duke University faculty, staff, students and other Duke-affiliated visitors remain the same. Get more information about library hours of operation.
New Card-Access Entry Points
In addition to the revised schedule above, the double doors to Perkins and Bostock libraries beneath the Perkins/Bostock connector will be card-access only 24 hours a day beginning January 23.
- To use these building entrances, library users will need to swipe their Duke ID card or Duke Alumni Card.
- Individuals without a Duke ID card or Duke Alumni Card are asked to enter through either of the main library entrances on the Academic Quad.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
