Each year Duke University Libraries employs over 250 students to work in a variety of jobs. For example, library student assistants process new materials, staff public service desks, search computer databases and edit on-line records, mend old and worn books, shelve thousands of volumes which have circulated to our patrons, perform clerical duties, and engage in many other activities. We offer a wide variety of employment opportunities, competitive wages starting at $15.00 per hour, a flexible work schedule, and an opportunity to meet many interesting people. Positions are available on East and West Campus.  In addition, our student assistants have the opportunity to learn to use the Library more effectively and to enhance their research skills.

We urge you to consider us for employment. All of our student positions are posted online.

The positions are searchable by location, work study requirements, and qualifications.

For students who are not currently on the Duke payroll, proper identification is required by law before individuals are able to begin working. A list of acceptable documents is provided by the Library's Human Resources Office. Students who are on Work-Study should bring Work-Study verification forms to the Human Resources Office before beginning employment.
