The Library Human Resources Department works in four main areas on behalf of the Duke community:
Plan, develop, administer & evaluate
We are a responsive and innovative human resources program for all levels of library staff and student workers of Duke University Libraries in coordination with Duke Human Resources. These programs include:
- recruitment & employment
- new employee orientation
- employee relations
- affirmative action
- performance management
- personnel records management
- staff training & development
Promote & support
We promote and support library efforts to achieve excellence through cultural diversity. Duke University Libraries actively encourages applications and nominations of women, persons of color, applicants with disabilities and members of other underrepresented groups.
Oversee review processes
We oversee the review processes for promotion and continuing appointment of librarians.
Maintain and update
We maintain all the necessary personnel and payroll records in compliance with federal and state regulations and in support of an effective human resources operation.
