The Dutch cartographer Willem Janzoon Blaue was one of the most famous mapmakers of his day. His Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (1648-1655), completed by his son Joan after Willem's death, is a masterpiece of the Golden Age of cartography. It was the most expensive book printed in the seventeenth century. From the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
