The Hinton Collection

The Hinton Collection  consists primarily of 19th- and early 20th-century English drama and playbooks, totaling about 3,300 items.  Plays include such genres as pantomimes, operas, juvenile drama, and comic operas.  Included are plays by such authors as Gilbert and Sullivan, John Balwin Buckstone, Edward Bulwer Lytton, John Maddison Morton, J. R. Planch́e, and William Shakespeare.


The Graves Collection

The Graves collection focuses on 18th-century English drama.  The collection is named for Professor Thornton Shirley Graves, professor of English at Trinity College (now Duke University), 1913-1921.  The collection consists of about 140 bound volumes, some containing multiple plays, with most composed of only one.
