Unrestricted gifts to Duke University Libraries are crucial to the success of undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and faculty. Research shows that the strength of a university’s library can play a deciding factor when top students and faculty are choosing between schools. Our ability to provide a world-class collection that supports all academic programs, inspiring and comfortable spaces to study and collaborate, innovative initiatives, and engaging programs and exhibitions relies on the enthusiasm and generosity of friends and donors like you.
Thanks to you, during the Duke Forward campaign the Libraries Annual Fund realized a 75% increase in cash gifts and a 40% increase in donors. That not only gave us the capital to start some spectacular initiatives – like Archives Alive and the Residence Hall Librarian Program – but also enabled us to deepen or establish relationships with you that we hope will grow in the future.

There are several opportunities throughout the year to experience our incredible libraries at Duke. We offer general tours and behind-the-scenes programs during Homecoming, Family Weekend, and Reunions. I hope you’ll consider attending one of these when you return to campus. And if you are visiting Duke any other time of the year, please let us know. We’d be glad to arrange a tour just for you!
Thank you again for helping to make this one of the finest academic research libraries in the country and a tremendous asset for Duke University.
