Duke University GIS Layers and Aerial Photography

The Duke University GIS Layers collection provide information on a variety of topics for the Duke community.  Current students, faculty and staff may access these below.  Ask questions or request access for non-commercial use by emailing us at askdata@duke.edu.

The vector data in this collection was obtained and processed in 2016 and 2009.  To download the most recent data, click on the desired geodatabase and unzip the file.  To view the metadata of the geodatabase, click on the "Metadata" link under the geodatabase you are using and choose the layer you need.

To download older layers, click the desired format for any layer.  ArcGIS layers are compressed in ".zip" format and require GIS software capable of reading ESRI geodatabases or shapefiles, or MrSID format raster data.  Google Earth layers are compressed ".kmz" files. All vector layers use the N.C. State Plane coordinate system (linear units = feet).  Lambert Conformal Conic Projection, 1983 North American Datum (NAD83)
