September 2, 2015 – January 1, 2050

The Birds of America is a scientific study of birds but also an important artistic endeavor. The work was printed between 1827 and 1838 and contains 435 engraved plates, colored by hand. The Rubenstein Library at Duke University owns a full 4 volume set; two are on display regularly in the Mary Duke Biddle Room.  Pages are turned monthly.
