Voices from the George Vickers Papers

October 8, 2024 – April 5, 2025

Presenting a selection of photographs, print materials, ephemera, and sound recordings, this exhibition juxtaposes North American, Southeast Asian, and Central American social movements and revolutionary struggles from the 1960s to the 1980s. The geographically diffuse perspectives and experiences captured in these materials reflect the richness of the papers of George Vickers (1943-2018)—shaped by his successive careers as a student activist, sociologist of the New Left, and human rights advocate—as a resource for studying distinct yet interrelated histories of social action.
