A Celebration of the William Styron Centenary
What, if anything, do a writer’s earliest attempts to publish tell us about their work to come? This exhibition poses the question through a display of student creative writing at Duke – from writers with decades-long careers to those getting started.
Public Event : Thursday October 16, 2026, 2:30pm - 4:00pm Holsti-Anderson Family Assembly Room, 153 Rubenstein Library
Exhibition curators, Danny Sarmiento and Arianne Hartsell-Gundy, will give opening remarks and a short history of the Rudolph William Rosati and William Styron creative writing awards that are given to students annually by Duke University Libraries. Past prize-winners – Jamie McGhee, Valerie Muensterman, and Kulsoom Rizavi – will give readings of their student work featured in the exhibition. Closing remarks will be provided by Alexandra Styron.
