A Photographic & Narrative Exploration of Jewish Identity

October 9, 2025 – November 30, 2025

Presented by Jewish Life at Duke, the Portrait Identity Project combines portrait photography with personal storytelling to highlight the many ways people identify as Jewish.

This visual storytelling project brings our community together to learn from students as they self-reflect on the intersection of their identities and how their perception of being Jewish has evolved. It highlights the diversity of Jewish experiences at Duke and invites viewers to reconsider what it means to be a young Jewish adult today.

As you move through the exhibit, we invite you to engage thoughtfully and reflect on your own experiences. These stories-shared by students in our own Duke community-are a snapshot of this moment in time, and part of an ongoing conversation about identity, belonging, and community.
