ETHICS 89S / HISTORY 89S / I and E89S / MUSIC 89S
Spring 2025
This first year seminar taught by Professor Eric Mlyn dives deep into the meaning of the Grateful Dead and how they reshaped American culture. Framed by the years they played at Duke, we explore the band's ties to US History and 1960s counterculture. We use the Dead to dive into themes such as authenticity, ambition, and leadership.
