Noise Up the World is an exhibition exploring the archive of novelist, essayist, philosopher, and scholar Sylvia Wynter. Focusing on her writings, the display highlights her beginnings in Jamaica and the evolution of her scholarship with special attention to her major projects on Man,  and the Autonomy of Human Cognition.

The Sylvia Wynter papers were acquired by the John Hope Franklin Research Center for African and African American History & Culture in 2018 and will be opened to the public with a staggered release starting with her writings in March 2026 with the full collection available by summer 2026.

The exhibition will be kicked off with two central events: an exhibition opening reception will be held on March 2 from 5:30-7:00pm and a symposium “Archive as Ceremony” on March 3 8:30am-5:00pm. Both events will take place in the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Holsti-Anderson Family Assembly Room 153
