Location: Hubbard Case

Kristin Hoover Gentry is a Two Spirit Choctaw artist, curator, and community advocate whose work celebrates storytelling, healing, and Indigenous resilience. Her mixed-media paintings and illustrations weave together ancestral symbolism and contemporary technique to honor cultural identity and the sacred balance of connection.

Gentry serves as the Curatorial Director of Indigenous Arts at Culture Hub Arts Institute in Oklahoma City, where she uplifts Indigenous artists through exhibitions, workshops, and cultural programming centered on creative wellness and community. She is also one of the key producers of IndigiPopX (IPX), the nation’s leading Indigenous pop culture convention, which she has produced for the past three years, advancing visibility for Native creators across art, comics, fashion, and media.

Her artwork has earned numerous honors, including the Jesse Hummingbird Legacy Award in Painting at the Cherokee Art Market, multiple first-place awards across Indigenous art markets, and national recognition from the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) for her relief printmaking. Gentry has also created corporate art commissions for major brands including Starbucks International, Paramount+, Audible, and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)—expanding representation of Indigenous artistry in both public and commercial spaces.

As a curator and writer, Kristin Hoover Gentry centers Indigenous storytelling, gender identity, and community healing through art. Her curatorial practice uplifts contemporary Indigenous voices and has included exhibitions exploring Indigenous gender identity and Two Spirit representation, creating space for visibility, dialogue, and connection. Gentry’s writing extends this work, focusing on the intersections of identity, resilience, and belonging. Through essays, artist features, and exhibition texts, she amplifies Indigenous perspectives and fosters deeper understanding across cultural and creative communities.

Through both her art and leadership, Gentry continues to build platforms that center Indigenous excellence and foster creative pathways for future generations.
