The Photography Gallery in the Rubenstein Library exhibits photographs from Rubenstein Library collections, primarily from the Archive of Documentary Arts, in order to:
- Provide the Duke community and the general public opportunities to engage with photographs and the documentary arts outside of the reading room
- Heighten awareness of individual documentary artists and collections as well as specific communities, cultures, customs, histories, people, places, and photographic traditions
- Heighten awareness of and honor the documentary tradition
- Inspire research, reflection, & dialogue
Exhibitions in the Photography Gallery in the Rubenstein Library are inclusive of a variety photographic mediums & a variety of artists that reflect the multitude of viewpoints and communities from which work is being made in the documentary arts today.
Those in the Duke community interested in sumbitting an exhibition proposal for the Gallery may do so through the link below. Please keep in mind that the Gallery hosts only three exhibitions a year and is booked up to two years in advance. Proposals will be reviewed quarterly.
