Some materials in Duke University Libraries collections are held at our off-site storage facility called the Library Service Center (LSC).
Requesting materials housed at the LSC
You can use the Books & Media Catalog to request materials:
- Click the Request button displayed next to an item in the Books & Media Catalog and you will be prompted to login using your Duke NetID or OneLink account; after you login, you will be able to request the item and select the library location where you can pick it up
- If you are a visitor and do not have a Duke NetID or OneLink account, you can use the Guest Request form to request that an item from the LSC be delivered to a library location for on-site use

Requesting an article as a PDF
To request that an article from items housed at the LSC be scanned and sent to you as a PDF:
- Place an Article Request by logging into Interlibrary Requests using your Duke NetID account
- If you are a visitor and do not have a Duke NetID account, you can use the Guest Request form to request that an article be scanned and sent to you as a PDF

Can I view materials at the LSC?
Although you cannot browse the LSC collection as you would in a standard library, you can view materials in the LSC Reading Room.
- Call us at (919) 596-3097 or (919) 613-6535 before you visit the LSC so that staff can retrieve your materials and set them up for you to view in the LSC Reading Room. (Alternately, you can request that items be delivered to another Duke Library location using the steps noted near the top of this page.)
- The LSC Reading Room has tables, computer workstations, and a photocopier
- The Reading Room at the LSC is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with the exception of holidays
