Duke's Music Library is on the first floor of the Biddle Building on East Campus
Check out our Libraries Hours page for up-to-date schedules for all the Duke Libraries.
Use the Books & Media search. For print books, look at the library location (ex: Perkins & Bostock) and write down or take a photo of the Library of Congress call number (ex: PR6039.O32 L63713 2006). You'll use this call number to locate the book at whichever library is listed on the page. All of our libraries have call number maps posted that you can use to see which floor and section your book will be located in. Ask at the front desk if you're having trouble finding a book. We are happy to help!
For ebooks, use your netid/password to access.
Yes! We are a research library, but also have lots of entertaining things in our collections. For books, check out our New & Noteworthy section on the first floor of Perkins and our OverDrive collection of eBooks and audiobooks. For film and video, see our list of streaming video collections (Kanopy and Swank Digital Campus are two of the most popular). For music, see our Listening Online page.
Don't worry, we can get books and articles for you through our Interlibrary Requests department. Just create an account and request the items that you need. You will be notified by email when your book arrives for pick-up; you can receive articles as PDFs directly to your email account. There is no charge for this service.
Yes! Learn more at our Find Library Spaces page. For study spaces beyond the Libraries check out the Campus Study Space Map.
Check out our citing sources page to get started. We also support a number of citation management tools which can be very helpful in creating in-text citations, footnotes, and works cited pages. Librarians are also here to help. Ask us citation questions in-person or via email or chat.
Yes, you can check out textbooks from the library via our Top Textbooks program. We have textbooks on reserve for the 100 largest courses at Duke. Textbooks can be checked out for 3 hours at a time. Most textbooks are located at the Perkins front desk, but select Chemistry and Math textbooks are held at the Music Library and Lilly Library @ Bishop’s House.
There are eprint stations and reservable scanners in Lilly Library @ Bishop’s House, the Music Library, and the Perkins and Bostock Libraries as well as other locations throughout campus.
